The Cosmos, The Arrivals, Book 1, Chapter 7, Steph Encounters Babs & Janet & Robyn, also Tiffany, Day 1, Section 6, Steph Reacquaints with Robyn: Do I Know You? ¶ ¶ ¶ Besides knowing her two former Pledge, Steph also knows Robyn, even if her former Pledge and Roommate from last Term doesn’t remember her. Steph hates Robyn and directly blames her for her own misfortune, even more so than she might blame Babs and Janet. ¶ Robyn remains uncertain as to just what memories possess her and that includes any amnesia about a queenly Steph Sorostitute sitting in the chair drin.king wi.ne.Robyn fails to read the lethality of Steph’s body language, with her arms coiled tight before her and her legs crossed. ¶ Robyn perks up, borrows Janet’s salutation, and introduces herself. “Hello, Steph Sorostitute. Pleased to make your acquaintance. I’m Robyn!” ¶ Steph turns, partly closes one eye, and tries not to hiss when she replies, “Really? So now you don’t know me?” ¶ “Know you? Monitor Babs has told me all about you,” Robyn counters. “How could I have ever met you before? I’m a newbie Cosmos Pledge this Term!” ¶ Steph scowls. On the final day of her tenure as Monitor last Term Steph never learned what Robyn’s outcome had been. {Only earlier today did I discover that Babs and Janet Opted Monitor this Term, and I thought for a moment Robyn had Opted likewise. Apparently not. I had Robyn positioned to Opt Strip, and then she did what she did to me. Could that be why she’s Pledging again? Rewarded?} ¶ Steph cocks her head and inquires, “So, Pledge Robyn, why aren’t you dancing at the Nugget right now?” ¶ Robyn shimmies bare shoulders in her sleek one-piece strapless maillot cutout and talks down to the sitting one. “Don’t try to fool me. I’m more important than you are. I’m a first-time Pledge, and Janet told me you’re a broken Monitor.” ¶ “Okay, so you don’t know me.” Steph makes a promise: “You {will} know me before the end of this Term!” ¶ Steph, like Babs, has full memories of Robyn. Steph realizes, {Once upon a time last Term my Pledge Robyn suggested I could also wear just the panties and heelsstill two piecesbut of course Robyn knew I would never do this. And then everybody present would laugh at stupid Robyn. That’s when I decided she wouldn’t be getting a second Garment, no Opt Up. I told her ‘Happy Opt Strip, Robyn,’ and after that I never saw her again.} ¶ Steph uncrosses her legs and crosses them in the opposite orientation. She trades eyes with the nearly naked and full-figured Monitor Janet and finds a twinkle there. Knowledge about the past cuts more ways than one and enters into the momentum of the present. Robyn may be forgetful about last Term, but Steph remembers all the ex-Cosmos, especially Robyn. ¶ “Tell me about the four Dining Room Pictures,” Steph probes Robyn. She watches out of the corner of her eye as Babs and Janet trade looks. ¶ “Well, what’s to tell?” Robyn shrugs, gesturing to BB and Janet. “See for yourself. Bikini Babe and Janet Jepoot. Same on the Dining Room Pictures. Bling and bush or’top the nombril, and jumboblats and jipajalala overflowing the Spiderweb.” Robyn laughs. ¶ “Do you know how they got their Bikinis?” Steph asks Robyn while watching Janet out of the side of her eye. ¶ “Hey, stop asking me stupid questions.” Robyn rises onto her toes. “You’re the one who should know this. You were their Monitor last Term.” ¶ Steph turns her eyes to look at Babs gently and at Janet more full on. {Well, maybe Babs looks me over carefully, but Janet has evil intent.} Steph looks at Robyn again. ¶ “Robyn Redacted,” BB speaks, as if to accelerate process. ¶ Steph squints. “Robyn Redacted?” ¶ “Robyn Redacted,” Janet repeats, and Steph’s fuse burns shorter. {Could it be that this creature not only pretends she doesn’t know me, but she has been completely expunged of what she did to me?} ¶ Steph looks to Babs and Janet again. ”Robyn Redacted,” Steph says slowly. ¶ Steph considers Robyn. {Blame it on amnesia or not, but Robyn has never paid attention to anything that wasn’t centered on Robyn.} ¶ Handicaps take many forms. ¶ Robyn plumbs depths. “Let me tell you about the bottom two Dining Room Pictures. The naked, pink, wet, and ready poot and coot. The Baseboard Strippers. That’s Penny and Coco. You should know. Didn’t you referee their Mudwrestling Contest last Term? The Strippers lost. I guess they got their pictures taken before they streaked naked to the Nugget.” ¶ Steph scratches an ear; she knows she did not referee the Mudwrestling Contest last Term. And she can tell from their wry smiles that Babs and Janet know this also. ¶ She doesn’t argue. “Well, Robyn,” she says, “that’s some memory you’ve got!” Steph looks up toward BB and Janet, makes an ever so slight movement with her head, and speaks to them as if they are equals. “I certainly know a lot of Robyn’s traits, especially the bad ones. Let me know if you want me to help train her.”
