Akira is transferred to the ER after being knocked off by a major asthma attack. Doctor Misty takes charge and tries to save her. She starts pumping her chest for multiple rounds while simultaneously giving her mouth-to-mouth, but it does not seem to work as she’s still unresponsive. The doctor decides to go in for the defibrillator as the manual resuscitation does not seem to work on her patient. She cuts Akira’s shirt open removes her denim shorts, and then attaches the defibrillator pads and heart monitor dots. After securing the wiring on her chest she presses the machine on. Beeping loudly, the machine reads Akira's heart rate and starts to give instructions. Starting the charge, the doctor picks up the two paddles and waits for the go-ahead from the defibrillator. "Shock advised," the machine says to the doctor. Pressing the paddles into the patient's chest, on top of the defibulation pads, the doctor pushes the buttons and delivers the charge. Still, no response. After a few attempts per the machine's instructions, the doctor realizes maybe performing the manual resuscitation would suffice even without the use of the machine. So she does it again — this time, pumping her chest with one hand over the other all while blowing air into her mouth. Still, no good. She goes back to charging her with the defibrillator, hoping and trying her hardest to revive her almost-lost patient.
