(Mixed English) This is a time-lapse custom request clip. Amydouxxx is currently hospitalized for an extended recovery following a complex spine surgery aimed at correcting severe scoliosis and a lower spine deformity. This involved decompression and reconstructive procedures, which may result in incontinence and necessitated implants in her urethra and anus. She faces a six-month convalescence period. The video starts with Amy connected to a respirator and covered by a blanket. Nurses soon begin to clear cast debris and monitor her vitals. During a routine check, the doctor discusses the surgery's challenges, including significant anal dilation and the insertion of an artificial sphincter, alongside urethral dilation. The doctor instructs the nurses to replace both the catheter and rectal bags. Two weeks later in the ICU, nurses swap the catheter and rectal tube bags and administer nutrition via a feeding tube, while discussing the surgery. By the fourth week, the doctor notes progress in spinal healing but remains uncertain about Amy's future mobility and continence. At eight weeks, nurses reassure a slightly panicked Amy, reminding her to rely on the respirator. The doctor explains the ongoing need for an anal tube, anticipating a future switch to a permanent plug and advises Amy to communicate by blinking due to her tracheostomy. Twelve weeks post-operation, nurses replace the rectal tube with a permanent anal plug and maintain the urinary catheter, informing Amy of the need for continuous use and regular enemas. They plan to begin pelvic training to assess her autonomous elimination capabilities. Despite her frustration, the nurses emphasize the necessity of these measures, attempting to comfort her and prepare her for adjustments to her new circumstances. (24 minutes!)
