Rome, 1458. A young woman from the quiet countryside of Rome has been charged with witchcraft. She is ripped from her home, dragged into the city, and thrown into a horrendously dark and cold dungeon. The young witch doesn't know how long she will be kept in this awful place, only that her captors are mean and merciless. Heavy iron shackles bolt into the wall and weigh down her limbs - a firm reminder that there is no escape. Her back is riddled with fresh lashes from a cruel whip, and her entire body is coated in a layer of filth and grime. She doesn't remember the last time she'd eaten or spoken to another person - down here, her only company is the mice that scuttle in the shadows. What is going to happen to her down here? Will she ever be freed, or will she remain down here - far from the light of civilization, until she takes her last breath?
